Events at Centre 401

Throughout the year, Centre 401 hosts a range of events that bring people together through connection, creativity and shared experience. Our events reflect our commitment to community, lived experience and meaningful engagement.

Waitangi Day

Join us in acknowledging and celebrating the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This is a time for reflection, connection and honouring the foundations of Aotearoa.

Kai Hākari

As part of our Te Ao Māori celebrations, we come together for a shared kai. This is an opportunity to connect, reflect and celebrate community in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Tune Up

Tune Up is a creative space focused on songwriting, music, creative writing and expression. It provides a supportive environment where people can explore ideas, practice and build confidence in sharing their creativity.

Many participants use Tune Up as a space to develop and refine pieces they may choose to perform at Mad Pride, while others attend to connect, create and express themselves through artistic avenues.

Matariki

We celebrate Matariki, the Māori New Year, with activities that encourage reflection, connection and looking ahead. Join us as we come together to acknowledge this significant time in Aotearoa.

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori

Join us in celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori as we promote and embrace te reo Māori as a valued taonga. This week offers opportunities to learn, engage and strengthen connection to language and culture.

Mad Pride

Mad Pride is our annual celebration of mad culture, creativity and lived experience. Through music, performance and humour, this event creates space for people to share their experiences in powerful and meaningful ways.

Many performers use spaces such as Tune Up to practice, develop their ideas and build confidence leading into the event. Mad Pride challenges stigma and celebrates the strength, creativity and individuality within our community.
